Why Does This Matter?

Phishing is one of the most common forms of social engineering in today's day in age. Ensuring that measures are taken to proactively protect sensitive data such as patient forms, medical forms, financial records, and passwords is critical. 

Aegis Health is committed to keeping data protected and safe. This better protects our patient and mitigates success rates on social engineering tactics. Regular training sessions, organization-wide meetings, and educational simulations will fortify the first line of defense--Aegis Health employees.

What to Watch For

Phishing emails are common but can be hard to identify. Here are some key factors or identifiers to look out for when determining an email's safety:

  • Suspicious links

  • Unusual attachments (unrecognizable file extensions/ZIPs/EXEs)

  • String of unusual code as sender address

  • Password requests in emails

  • Signs of:​​

    • Immediate urgency​

    • Quid pro quo

    • Asking for sensitive information

    • Threatening
